Yours Truly Featured on Tongue in Chic

Words can't express how happy I am to be featured on Tongue in Chic - Asia's Fashion Portal. Here I am in my lace peplum Miss Selfridge dress which I bought last year at the Pavilion Gala Pit Stop event on 21st March 2013.

I was at a meeting prior to the event in KL and finished early, so I decided to walk into Miko Hair Salon to do my hair. The hairstylist pinned it up into a bun, which I liked but I find that I didn't really look like me... lol!

The show was great. Deborah Henry was the emcee. Karen Millen, Raoul, Tumi, Variante, Shanghai Tang, Vertu, La Martina and Eclipse all put on a great Spring Summer 2013 show.

Sugar, Oh Honey Honey!

I recently got an invitation to MAC Archie's Girls launch at Mid Valley and I fell totally head over heels in love with the packaging! I grew up with these comic characters and I especially loved sexy siren Veronica, with her flowing jet black hair, hourglass figure and full bosom.

Everything was decked up and inspired by the swing days. Dancers in full skirts and guys in suspenders pranced about the area. There was a jukebox as a decor and food served were cute as buttons - cream soda with colourful straws, mini hotdogs with mustard, mini burgers, heart-shaped strawberry shortcake, etc. The MAC people really outdid themselves, food wise. Gave me the feeling as if I was in a 60's diner.

The MAC people took a photo of us and e-mailed it over with the frame!
I particularly loved the face highlighter as it came with build-in hearts, but I don't usually dust highlighter on my face. The last time I did was ten years back when I started experimenting with makeup. Highlighter overload! It gave me a very obvious fake tan on my face only.

Got the Caramel Sundae eyeshadow palette, the Betty Bright lipstick and a tin of heart-shaped candies as a doorgift. The colours in the eyeshadow palette is so me! I'm so pleased as I tend to use mostly brown, earthy tones anyway. Can't say the same about the lipstick though.

Weighing the Issue

It's been a little over a year since our wedding and naturally I've put back on all the weight that I specifically lost for the wedding, which is almost 5kg! I'm horrified to find that some of my clothes now have a snugger fit - oh the horrors!

Today I told myself that I will try to eat healthy, run (even if its just 10 minutes on weekends) and try to minimize snacking. The only snack that I allow are fruits so this morning before leaving for work I cut myself an apple for my teatime snack. Breakfast is maybe a sandwich or cornflakes with lowfat milk... it really depends on my tastebuds' preference.

Having typed all of the above, I'm not a person who's obsessed with weight. I think skinny people look malnourished. But I do know that some clothes look better on slim people - and notice that I used the word "slim", and not "skinny". We'll see how my mission ends.

Anyway, I think Katherine Heigl has the best shape. She always looks healthy and radiant. Her smile is infectious too. Agree?

Dinner at 8

There were lots of travelling for us over the weekend for a cousin's wedding!

Weddings are lovely, but when it comes to searching for something to wear, it's ridiculously tedious! Does anyone of you share my sentiment? My closet is bursting at the seams, but yet it's never enough.

Alwin and I travelled up north out-of-state on Friday night for the Chinese wedding tea ceremony which took place early yesterday morning, before coming back the same day for the wedding reception.

I finally decided on this lace peplum dress for the reception at Mutiara Palace Restaurant near Ikea. This is my second time wearing this dress (the first was also to another wedding), but the first time I'm blogging about it.

Enjoy the rest of the day :)

M.A.C Glamour Daze Holiday Collection 2012

I attended the M.A.C Glamour Daze Holiday 2012 event at KLCC yesterday evening. I don't often get invited so it was rather delightful to receive an invitation.

I've always been a fan of M.A.C and am an avid user of their Studio Fix powder foundation. The colours in this collection has a sugary sweet base of powder pink, baby blue, mint green, soft brown and lilac. My eye makeup colours tend to be on the smokier side of neutrals, greys and charcoals as they provide better definition (I think). Perhaps its time to shake things up a bit by throwing out the old and bringing in the new. New year's resolution #1: Be more adventurous.

One thing I adore about M.A.C is their ability to come up with the most creative of packaging every season. This time around, the concept is very Boudoir-like, very sexy, with a hint of French accents.

Luscious bows decorate the clasps of the palettes - a nice finishing touch

My favourite items of the evening were the bright fuschia lipstick and the nail polishes. I was inspired by the Glamour Girls to coif my hair into a bouffant for the next party or event I attend.

Nail Polish Crazeee

My first blog entry for October and guess what it's about? Nail polish galore! 90% of females in the office purchased nail polishes from a combined order amounting to over RM600 bucks! We could probably start a mani/pedi shop if we wanted to. Amelyn is super good at nail art and design and she can do wonders with nail polish - water marbling, polka dots - you name it, she can do it.

I love the colours I bought - Metallic 4 Life from Nicki Minaj (a glittery gel-like black), The Colour of Minnie (silvery red), Call Me Gwen-ever (orange) and Did You Ear About Van Gogh (nude) - all by OPI. I can't wait to remove my current Topshop blue nail polish and paint on new coats of colour on my nails.

I'll probably invest in more nail polishes in the coming months, depending on orders secured from the rest of the colleagues. I'm eye-ing for the James Bond Skyfall collection in The Living Daylights, a multi-coloured glitter base polish. One thing about glitter nail polishes is that they are IMPOSSIBLE to remove. But I still love all things shiny and glittery.

And I'm also excited about the Penang food trip that three of my secondary school friends and I are embarking on this weekend. More pics on that when I return.

Messy, One-sided Updo

I've never had lustrous, shiny hair my entire life. Hair extensions are a God-send for people like me. I bought three pieces of hair extension clip-ons made of real hair so I can emulate those lucky people. This is my second time using them, this time as extensions for a messy side bun.

So this is how my bun looks like, thanks to a superb makeup and hair artiste extraordinaire Rynee Tan. Wore this Warehouse dress I bought online to Wei Teing and Gan's wedding at Grand Imperial, Bangsar Shopping Centre on 16 September. Read about the drama that ensued during the purchase of the dress here.

I love the strappy detail and the bare back of the dress. This is naturally why I decided on an updo - to show off the dress :)

Egg-y Nail Polish

Aren't these Essie nail polishes cute? I know Easter is long gone, but I just discovered this image while browsing the web. I love bright, neon nail polishes, and this is such an inspiration and perfect for gifts too!

I have been eyeing on some glitter and neon nail polishes from OPI for some time now and a nail polish enthusiast friend is gonna help me get some. I can't wait for the package to arrive. Will share pics when I do receive them. Hopefully the colours will turn out as intense as they appear on the images shared online.

Today I Feel Like...

...Tying my hair up in a loose chignon, wearing red lipstick (I'm not a fan of lipstick but I'm really into red lippie now), throwing on a pair of Jackie O-inspired sunnies and going somewhere awesome. Is anyone with me?
