Hello! Magazine Year-end Appreciation Party

Attended the Hello! magazine year-end appreciation party last night at Bridge Bar, G Tower. I've never been to Bridge Bar before and it proved to be a refreshing change from the nightspots that I now have a love-hate relationship with.

We were hoping to snag ourselves a few lucky draw prizes, but naturally lady luck was not on our sides. Bumped into good friend Vanessa Chong and her good friend Rozie. They were all so glamourous so we also pretended to be socially active and glamourous as well.

I naturally took this opportunity to show off my new water marbling nail art. No, water marbling is not a fizzy drink. It's a form of nail art that utilizes water, nail polishes in different colours and cellophane to tape your fingers combined with a skill of breath-holding accuracy when submerging your nails in the water - a lot of time and work involved, really.

It's my first time trying out water marbling on my nails, and I love what Amelyn from Mani-Maniac has done! The colour combination really pops! I'll probably try the technique on my own next time, but for now, I'm just gonna sit back and admire my new nail art. I'm very careless with my nails but I'm hoping the (free!) manicure will last for at least a week.

Stylish Bedrooms

I have a thing for modern, uncluttered minimalism. I find it quite therapeutic browsing through furniture shops and trying to mix-and-match the items in my mind. No doubt the bedroom is the most important room in the house - it's where we get plenty of rest and shut-eye. Of course, due to a set budget, Alwin and I never did get an interior designer to deck up our home / bedroom. Nonetheless, we have made a comfortable home for ourselves and we think we did a pretty good job of ID-ing it ourselves.

I now find pleasure in surfing the internet for ideas and tips on home decor, though I don't always put them to practice.

Dreamy Vintage Elegance

I happened to stumble across pictures of myself as a young child this past weekend. Back then, more than 20 years ago, my mum used to dress me up in beautiful dresses with can-can underneath a full skirt. These frocks usually came in lace, floral and bows. Such pretty frocks they were, and it's quite saddening that little girls nowadays don't dress like those days anymore. Instead, they dress like mini adults - a mini replica of their mums and dads, if you may.

Rachel, a very good friend of mine from Miss Head Over Heels, coincidentally also e-mailed me pictures of her in her mum's handsewn vintage skirt. And so I was inspired by these occurrences to post an entry on the stylish but often forgotten vintage era. As I was googling for vintage inspirations, I found so many fascinating images and found myself wishing that old skool styles will never go out of season.
