Happy Birthday to Me and Happy 1st Anniversary to My Blog!

I turned 30 about a week back, and boy, what a celebration that I've had! Now I truly know why turning the big 3-0 is such a BIG deal. Weeks and weeks of eating and parties started on Labour's Day eve with a bunch of crazy friends, then dinner with the family and then Sunday roast with the hubby. These are the people that I'm glad I have in my life - people who love me, and whom I love in return. Moments like these make me feel that I'm so blessed. Plus the long weekend for Election Day made it all the more worthwhile...

On another note, congratulations to me! I started this blog in May (after my 29th) last year to document all the stuff I did and will do, and I'm glad I've been able to maintain it for a year now, though not as regularly as I'd like. Scout's honour - I will try to make it more consistent :)

Labour's Day eve dinner and party with gorgeous girls Pam, Rachel, Vanessa, Christina, Wai Ling, Fiona at Ciccio and later on at Establishment at Changkat:

Saturday dinner at Lima Blas Nyonya Restaurant along Jalan Mesui with family. So in love with the old skool decor:

Sunday Roast with my favourite man in the whole wide world at Albion, also somewhere around Changkat:

Next celebration will be in Da Nang to cap it all off! It will be epic! Stay tuned :)

Anya Hindmarch Spring Summer 2013 Preview

I really have been abandoning my blog. I can't believe my last post was more than a month back! To put things back into perspective, I'm gonna start with my latest Anya Hindmarch purchase :)

The Anya Hindmarch SS2013 preview was in their boutique at Suria KLCC - nothing fancy, just guests going in and out looking at their new collection while the staff served us wine, juices, tea and cakes coz it was teatime. Must say the red velvet cake from Hilton KL was nice...

I parted with almost RM2k (*faints*) for a clutch which I have absolutely no regrets buying. It has this obscure print of a guy and girl "doing it" on one side and the damask print on the other side, and a large handmade tassle which took 8-hours to construct, it seems. Amelyn and Tasha were also invited so we went together (that's what happens when you work together and we all very "lifestyle" punya orang) and met my cousin Violet coz she very "high-end".

The apple and pear shaped minaudieres. Cute but seem impractical
See the TASSLE? Huge, right? It's mine - ALL MINE!
Elated after our purchases. Amelyn bought a wallet

I wasn't expecting much at the event, coz it wasn't a cocktail event with a fashion show or anything like that, but I did enjoy myself - thanks to the hospitality of Ms. Soo Shea Pin and team.

Ok, time to get back to work.

Cheers and have a good weekend y'all!

Dinner at 8

There were lots of travelling for us over the weekend for a cousin's wedding!

Weddings are lovely, but when it comes to searching for something to wear, it's ridiculously tedious! Does anyone of you share my sentiment? My closet is bursting at the seams, but yet it's never enough.

Alwin and I travelled up north out-of-state on Friday night for the Chinese wedding tea ceremony which took place early yesterday morning, before coming back the same day for the wedding reception.

I finally decided on this lace peplum dress for the reception at Mutiara Palace Restaurant near Ikea. This is my second time wearing this dress (the first was also to another wedding), but the first time I'm blogging about it.

Enjoy the rest of the day :)

The Year That Was

This will be my last post for the year. I can't believe how fast time flies. Was 2012 a good year for you? I certainly have no complaints.

Allow me to reflect on the highlights of 2012:

#1 Decided to join the blogosphere
#2 Gave ang pows during Chinese New Year for the first time
#3 Travelled rather extensively. Made trips to Singapore, East Malaysia, London, Paris, Scotland, Beijing, Bali and Boracay
#4 Got promoted at work
#5 Got a new laptop at work (thank goodness!)
#6 Made the switch to iPhone 4S and lovin' it
#7 Witnessed live the crowning of our Miss Universe Malaysia 2013
#8 Spoke on radio although it was a white lie (thank you Pam, for making me do it)
#9 The end-of-the-world saga didn't happen
#10 Celebrated our one-year wedding anniversary

Alwin and I decided to head to Fatboys at Publika to have an early burger dinner before going home to accompany the TV and DVD player. Savages was on our minds, rather than crowded places. It was simple and nice - just the two of us. And then he gave me the one thing that every girl's crazy about - the lil' blue Tiffany box! In it nestled a pretty charm bracelet. He knows me only too well... So yes, it is the perfect ending to the year for me.

My Mahola burger of pork patty, cheese and pineapple with mash potato

Alwin and his Wimpy burger of beef patty, bacon and fries

An anniversary gift from Violet

Alwin's anniversary gift for me :)

And mine to him - it was just a card I got from London
To end this post on a high note, I have a lovely poem to share, written by Joanna Fuchs.

New Year's Reflections

Looking back on the months gone by,
As a new year starts and an old one ends,
We contemplate what brought us joy,
And we think of our loved ones and our friends.

Recalling all the happy times,
Remembering how they enriched our lives,
We reflect upon who really counts,
As the fresh and bright new year arrives.

And when I ponder those who do,
I immediately think of you.

Thanks for being one of the reasons I'll have a Happy New Year!

Here's wishing all of you a Happy New Year and may 2013 be another superb year for us all!

Post Wedding / Honeymoon Shoot in Boracay

While in Boracay, we syiok sendiri so we decided to do a honeymoon / post-wedding photoshoot. Besides, we had a lot of time to spare. Our rationale is as such: Firstly, we don't want to go on a honeymoon in one of the world's top beaches without nice photos to remember it by. Next, we don't want to take a hundred shots only to have ten of us together. Lastly, it's quite troublesome to go about asking strangers to snap photos for us.

We stumbled across Cea and Jan, a pair of young photographer lovebirds based in Boracay. They're so nice and warm and friendly and have a great portfolio. They made us feel so at ease and I'm glad we picked them to document our honeymoon. Check out their blog/portfolio here.
